Which is to say, if I’m going to ramble at you about dialogue tags, I may as well direct you to a comprehensive discussion of punctuation in dialogue tags. Because some of you need to read this.

But, but, you say, that’s from 2010! The rules have changed since then! And it’s stuff we learned in English class.

Again, I’ve read some of your books.  A refresher, perhaps, might be useful. Just run through it, and maybe you can save your editor a few hours of work.
