The general consensus of everybody is that dialogue tags ought to be just one thing. Said. Everything else distracts. Oh, the editors will let you have a few asks and respondeds, but the rest of them have to go.
I have a lot of asks. I have a lot of respondeds. I think they flow nice, but I don’t want to go against the general consensus. That general guy is mean if you don’t do what he says. Plus, there’s frightening editors who leave negative comments on Amazon. 😦 If you can’t say something nice, become a critic.
